Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions we get asked. If you have a question for us that is not answered here, please submit a form request and one of our team will get back to you as soon as possible. We aim to answer all enquiries on the same working day within reason. If that is not possible, we will reply on the next working day. If your enquiry is more urgent, please call us.

Where do RBS Operate?

RBS have yards in both Southampton and Winchester. We generally state that we operate within Hampshire as well as the surrounding counties. We will consider travelling further afield if the project and/or client budget permits – the further we have to travel, the more logistical considerations have to be factored in.

Do you subcontract your work?

No. All of our personnel are employed on a PAYE basis and paid a fixed hourly rate, rather than encourage price work. We believe that the quality of workmanship would otherwise deteriorate. We do not employ any sub-contractors unless the clients’ program changes dramatically and they require a short-term increase in labour for a short period of time.

Do I need to apply for permission for my Scaffolding with the Local Authority?

Permission will be required if any part of the Scaffolding is placed on a public highway or walkway. We will fully assess your requirement and deal with the Council for permission on your behalf.

What are the typical lead times for the provision of scaffolding?

Lead times are dependent on many factors. As a guide, for large projects we would ask for a minimum of two weeks’ notice. Giving enough time to ensure all aspects of the project (including scheduling third parties) can be planned appropriately to facilitate the smooth running of your project. Often, we can oblige at short notice so It is always best to contact us.

Is there a limit on the length of time we can have the Scaffolding for?

We know that very often, building work or renovations can take much longer than originally planned. This is rarely an issue for us and we frequently find we have to extend the rental period to cover delays in construction.

Does Scaffolding have implications on my Business or Home Insurance?

Every Insurance Policy is different and it is always worth checking with your particular insurer beforehand – However, RBS are fully insured for Public Liability and Employer’s Liability for your peace of mind.

Why choose RBS above other Scaffold providers?

Put simply, with over 30 years experience in all industry sectors, with over 70 employed staff members, full industry Accreditation and Health & Safety compliance and a Company culture of Quality and Service, we think we are the first choice for Scaffolding in the South-Central region. Call us about your project and discover why TODAY!
